THE GREEN ROOM 2027 WITH THE MINDER 2.0
The Minder principle for furnishing the Green Room, reinterpreted in a modern concept.
The Minder (Bulgarian: миндер) is a quintessential piece of Bulgarian furniture and the heart of the traditional living space. Typically crafted by local artisans from woods such as walnut or oak, it has defined homes in a distinctive, rustic folk style for generations.
For the furnishing of the Green Room, we have translated the concept of this traditional Bulgarian wall bench into a contemporary design, allowing Bulgaria - as the host country - to be authentically seen and experienced.
Our "neo-folk" approach blends historical design elements with a modern aesthetic. In this process, the Minder is stripped of its heavy, dark carvings and reduced to a clean, serene silhouette. Instead of a seat fully covered in colorful wool rugs (chergi), we utilize a high-quality bouclé fabric. Its soft texture, created by looped yarns, gently reflects the light, lending warmth to the piece and softening its contours.
Traditional Bulgarian ornamentation - such as the geometric patterns from Chiprovtsi or Samokov - is employed with deliberate restraint. These motifs appear exclusively on two accent cushions, creating a subtle link between cultural heritage and contemporary design.

It is designed in the style of a traditional Viennese coffee house to make Austria’s role as host country visible and tangible.
The stage concept by star designer Florian Wieder combines familiar Eurovision elements with innovations while simultaneously capturing the creative spirit of the Vienna Secession. For the first time in Eurovision history, the Green Room will be actively integrated into the show and staged as a social meeting point.

For the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest at the Düsseldorf Arena, the production team revolutionized the Green Room by integrating it directly into the main arena for the first time, rather than placing it in a separate side room as had been done previously.
In 2015 in Vienna, the Green Room was not located directly next to the stage but on the opposite side of the arena, connected to the main stage via a walkway running through the center of the hall.
